Big Ugly Podcast: TWAVGD

Big Ugly PodcastBig Ugly Podcast, Big Ugly 2.0, Episode V

Date: October 18, 2006.

Summary: It’s about time we addressed the issue of my last name, and its soundalike proximity to the phrase Tourette Syndrome. The subject came up on the engaging, “Michiana”-based Big Ugly Podcast, after co-hosts Wetzel and D-Evil played my song, Today Was A Very Good Day.

Turetzky? Do you think that’s a (sic) pseudoname?” asked D-Evil, inventing an expression of his own.

“I’m gonna guess,” said Wetzel.

“Sounds a little bit like Tourette-sky.”

“Which would fit in with his schtick, I believe.”

Dr. Demento: Is he still around?

Dr. DementoThe pair followed up with an all-too-common observation about Dr. Demento, who debuted Today Was A Very Good Day early last year on his program. “I didn’t realize he was still around,” Wetzel said.

And so it goes for Dr. Demento. Stuck in the vacuum between broadcast radio and Internet radio, dropped by satellite broadcaster XM, probing for relevance in the era of Web 2.0.

“Apparently, (Demento is) still nationally syndicated. We just don’t get it in this area. That makes me very sad, because I used to love listening to that stuff,” D-Evil said.

“Have you tried looking Demento up online?”

“Online? Nobody listens to music online! I’m a big fan of this Internet radio revolution. But at the same time, there’s just certain things…. Dr. Demento should be broadcast.”

Highlights from Big Ugly

Other highlights from this episode of the Big Ugly Podcast:

Wetzel: “Alec Baldwin used to be cool. Now he’s William Shatner cool.

D-Evil on film directors who favor style over substance: “They’re not making movies, they’re making art. And art is always subjective.”

Wetzel delivers pizza for a living; D-Evil works in a party store. Wetzel says podcasting allows him to embrace his “inner asshole.” And I’m starting a band called “Turetzky Syndrome”. That’s my scene, and I’m schticking to it.

Caught in the vacuum  (1:07).

What’s this story with William Shatner anyway? What I do not like about him is that he is a musician and that he was married four times, I suppose.

Otherwise, I do not give too much credit to the so called love between Kirk and Spock. I was referring just to the movie. I heard about it on teresawymore site.
