Please don’t hurt the emcee
Retro hippie-trippy rock duo The Bandmates have invited me to emcee their marathon CD release party, from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 12 at Lakewood Bar & Grill in Dallas, and I’ve cautiously accepted.
Expect chaos and open revolt as I attempt to stage-manage 16 guest bands and solo acts who’ve been told to limit their sets to 15 to 20 minutes each. The Bandmates will headline at 9 p.m., performing tracks from their new CD, The Buddha And The Alien.
I’ll introduce the bands and play comedy songs throughout.
The Bandmates are Kimberly Cody (vocals) and Susan Carson (bass). The group also includes guitarist Lee Fortune, who produced my comedy music EP, Look What I Made!, and drummer Scott Miles.
Sunday’s lineup features “psychedelic mood rock” notables Eden Automatic and a host of Lower Greenville and Deep Ellum music district regulars. Winedale Tavern pals Gray & In The Way, Daria McBee, Dan The Bartender and Mark McCulloch will also perform.

They do have a nice cover for the CD. Is it available in Europe as well, or shall I call my friend in Huston to buy it?
So how was the show?
