Disturbed: myTunes music critic
raises ‘Turetzky Syndrome’ alert

iTunesBusy world traveler Hank Shiffman programs his globe-trotting with an eclectic mix of audio from the iTunes Music Store.

Not satisfied simply to share his observations with the guy in 22F, Hank posts brief, spikey and highly readable reviews of his selections on myTunes — an iTunes blog.

This week, myTunes takes on my comedy music EP, Look What I Made! In just a few paragraphs, Hank captures my id, drops a Tom Lehrer reference and tags me with an obvious but irresistible nickname.

Hank sez:

I’m guessing Ken Turetzky doesn’t get invited to many debutante balls. From his album cover, with the little girl proudly holding up (what he claims is fake) poo, to a set of track names that promise your baser delights, we aren’t looking at Dallas’s upper crust here.

Even a superficially upbeat title like Today Was a Very Good Day, with its faux Cat Stevens vocals and cheery tone, delivers a message that would be out of place during National Brotherhood Week.

Turetzky’s a disturbed individual, or at least he plays one on radio. Which leads to the only question that matters: can you relate to his kind of disturbed, what I’ve decided just cries out to be called Turetzky’s Syndrome? Much as I hate to admit it, I certainly can.

  1. Shawno says:

Why isn’t “Morris The Cat” listed on iTunes, Ken?

That way, I can link to it and make some affiliate scratch. (Pun intended.)

  2. Ken Turetzky says:

    Nice pun, Shawno!

I’d love to list on iTunes, but my iTunes affiliation is brokered through CD Baby, which only allows me to list complete albums.

Morris, alas, is a lonely single.

However, I’ve set up an listing for Morris through , which hosts my own .

Grab the and let’s get it on!

  3. Shawno says:

Thanks for the quick response, Ken.

I’ve decided to just link directly to your main site instead of using the affiliate link.

I think it’s a fairer way to support the man, the myth, the Morris and the Turetzky.

  4. Susan says:

Every four years of so I feel compelled to drop you a line. For those reading, I am the mother of the little girl on the cover of the album. I have some things to say.

    1. It is TOO fake poop!
    2. The little girl in question(M.) is now almost eight years old, and deeply embarrassed about her album cover debut. Therefore, when she becomes an insufferable teenaged person, we will take great delight in using this primo material to hold over her head, the threat of embarrassment being a great behavior modifier.

    Thank you then, in advance.

    See you soon!

    Susie
