Big Phil’s Love Parade: More Ken Tur-zetz-ky and If They Found Me Dead

Big Phil's Love Parade PodcastBig Phil’s Love Parade, Episodes 79 and 80

Dates: April 28 and May 5, 2007

Full episodes: NRA Theatre and The Music Show, Part 2

Summary: There’s an aphorism in show business — maybe you’ve heard it — that reads: I don’t care what you say about me, just make sure you mangle my name!

Big Phil of Big Phil’s Love Parade and I have this thing going on. See, Phil plays one of my songs, or just plugs my Web site, and in the process, gleefully identifies me as Ken Tur-zetz-ky.

Phil’s got zetz!

He really hammers on that zetz-ky, too. Hits the syllable hard. You’ve gotta admire the guy for his passion. In fact, I was just about to go with Hank Shiffman’s “Turetzky Syndrome” idea as sort of a brand identification, but now I’m seriously thinking about “Tur-zetz-ky.”

  • Show 79: Phil graciously acknowledges a note from me: “I received a really nice e-mail from Ken…I know I mangled his name; I apologize but I’m still not sure. I don’t know the actual pronunciation…Ken Tur-zetz-ky. ‘Cause a couple of shows ago we played his Her Shit Don’t Stink song….”
  • Show 80: “We’re going to hear Ken Tur-zetz-ky! I know we’re mispronouncing your name, man. Sorry about that!”

The most recent Love Parade, titled “The Music Show, Part 2,” also featured my set-closer, If They Found Me Dead.

Love the show; love the act, too. Keep playing my music, Phil, and don’t ever change!

Show 79: Props for Ken Tur-zetz-ky  (0:46).

Show 80: Sorry about that, Ken Tur-zetz-ky!  (0:15).
