At the automat with Jerry

Fly Me To The Moon presents Jerry Lewis as distilled Vegas ego, served up to the yokels like a hot plate of kreplach.

It’s the sort of yiddishkeit one rarely hears any more from Dr. Demento, once a fount of Borscht Belt comedy music.

Bowl of kreplachFortunately, though, the famished nudnicks on the Mad Music Archive are eating this stuff up, sending my song to No. 4 on the Mad Music Dementia Top 20 one week and No. 11 the next. Continue reading

Today Was A Very *&!@#$ Day

I don’t bleep my songs for just anybody, but Tyrone Kahn’s running a family friendly podcast. In other words, he’s a real prude.

However, for the sake of the children, I substituted a couple of harmonica notes for the common expletives *&!@#$ and +)&%!!? in Today Was A Very Good Day.

So now everbody’s happy, except for fans of the common expletives *&!@#$ and +)&%!!?. I’m a big fan of those expletives, so I suppose that group includes me.

Catch the radio edit of my song in Episode Four of Kahn Man’s Comedy Corner, which also features an exclusive live performance of Girlfriend by Henry Phillips. Continue reading

We ask the tough questions

Comedy 365 podcast

On this “buttocks-clenching edition” of Chickenflaps, Rosie Koonunga-Hill “serves up some food-related funnies and lavatorial laughs,” which naturally include a spin of my old standby, Her Shit Don’t Stink.

Now, Chickenflaps is a sometime feature on the Comedy 365 podcast, which (according to Comedy 365) is “one of iTunes’ most downloaded independent podcasts” and is “produced in the U.K. by Sowerby & Luff.

Sowerby & Luff

S&L, in turn, are a noted comedy team who ask such riotous questions as, “Should pandas bleach their black bits to try and get a mercy shag off a polar bear?” Continue reading

DT’s on fire!

Mad Music Dementia Top 20 PodcastIt’s always been my pleasure to contribute songs to the Mad Music Dementia Top 20, a program that supported me from the start.

We go way back, to the time when nobody had ever heard my amusing little songs. What I’m trying to say is, nobody still has ever heard my amusing little songs, and MMDT20 host David Tanny hasn’t done squat for me!

San Diego fires 2007DT faces more pressing matters, however, as he resides in San Diego, a particularly toasty spot these days due to a series of raging October wildfires.

San Diego is “hot, dry, smoky, and restless,” DT writes. Continue reading

Payloadz meets the Internet trolley of love

Hyper Nonsense PodcastShawno says I’m cranky. Or, “there’s some times…when Ken just seems a little cranky. What’s wrong, Ken?”

Oh, a lot of stuff, Shawno. But for now, let’s stick to your premise that I’m somehow unhappy with the percentage that Payloadz takes from my mp3 sales.

Payloadz: Sell downloadsNot true! In fact, I recommend Payloadz’s secure digital download service. I’m fine with their fees, which still leave me with a bigger cut than iTunes.

It’s just Payloadz’s faulty affiliate forms and Junkyard Willie-style customer support that inspired this devastating e-mail exchange: Continue reading
