Summary: Shawno says I’m cranky. Or, “there’s some times…when Ken just seems a little cranky. What’s wrong, Ken?”
Oh, a lot of stuff, Shawno. But for now, let’s stick to your premise that I’m somehow unhappy with the percentage that Payloadz takes from my mp3 sales.
Not true! In fact, I recommend Payloadz’s secure digital download service. I’m fine with their fees, which still leave me with a bigger cut than iTunes.
It’s just Payloadz’s faulty affiliate forms and Junkyard Willie-style customer support that inspired this devastating e-mail exchange:
KT: You’re insane, aren’t you. Or this is a big gag. The idea that you’re running a business is a big put-on.
Payloadz: Definitely funnier than the material you put out.
Calling all affiliates
In the end, the bloodied combatants reached a truce. All is well in digital download world.
And now that my Payloadz pals have fixed their forms, I’m able to offer a 15-percent affiliate fee to any desperate site operator who chooses to list my album.
But I also realize, if I’d had Shawno managing my correspondence, we could have resolved the issue without all of the harsh words.
As Shawno says, “Hyper Nonsense is the Internet trolley of love. And we want to get everyone on board. ‘Cause it’s time. It’s time to heal the earth! Ya know?”
Shawno’s still not buying the affiliate arrangement, though. It wouldn’t be right to take cash from starving musicians, he says. Again, not a problem, as nobody’s buying this crap, anyway.

Speaking of which, Shawno and co-host Jen graciously pimped my participation in The Best Of The Red Peters Comedy Music Hour, Volume 1.
The new album from Oglio Records features my song, Her Shit Don’t Stink.
And then they played Her Shit Don’t Stink, too. So the segment was a real winner for me! The Ken Turetzky music machine just keeps rollin’ along.
