Return to Demento

There’s nothing like the real thing

It’s been more than a year since one of my songs last appeared on The Dr. Demento Show, and during that time I’ve been compelled, in the interest of comedy music survival, to grovel before his lesser demented imitators.

That strategy, however humiliating, served its purpose, keeping me afloat until the Doc played I’ll Get Old And Die in the third segment of his Thanksgiving 2007 show.

Cleverly, Dr. D inserted my song as an endpiece for an obscure National Lampoon Radio Hour bit in which a fake Al Jolson delivers a tribute to his dead Vaudeville pal.

But all you need to know, really, is that it’s time for more mad music and crazy comedy, requiring no further association with copycat podcasters and Web radio hosts. That is, until I need them again.

It all started with the Kahn Man

Speaking of pretenders and upstarts, let me at this point mention that I’ll Get Old And Die first appeared September 4 on the inaugural Kahn Man’s Comedy Corner podcast.

Tyrone featured my song again on his current Getting Older edition. To date, the six episodes of KMCC have logged 941 downloads.

Call the doctor — and request my songs!

The thing to do now is visit Dr. Demento’s request page and ask him to play more I’ll Get Old And Die.

While you’re there, request another of my popular recent tunes, Fly Me To The Moon!

  1. Rev. Zack says:

This is totally unacceptable to me. I refuse to let Dr Demento have an exclusive with your music!

Your music is too damn good not to be shared on all podcasts and startups too (THAT’S ME)!

I know Dr D is the god of comedy but he must share you!

So you better keep the songs coming so I can keep playing them.

    Sincerely Rev Zack

  2. Pete says:

    Amen to Rev. Zach.
