Mad Music Dementia Top 20 Podcast

One season of the Mad Music Dementia Top 20 was more than enough for founder and host David Tanny.

He’s dumping the show. The MMDT20 will return in 2008, but under new management.

<But DT closed the year with a flourish, wrapping up with a two-part, Top 50 countdown that included two of my familiar tracks.

Notably, I’ll Get Old And Die finished 2007 at No. 39, as requested by voters, and Fly Me To The Moon wound up at No. 32.

Apparently, Dave grew weary of the hassles associated with a program that depends on Web balloting to determine its playlist. For one thing, voters tend to pick the same songs week after week, resulting in a stifling sameness.

For another, thanks to easy IP-masking schemes, determined “voters” can stuff the ballot box all day long, evading restrictions meant to assure fairness.

David’s turned the MMDT20 over to DJ Particle, a comedy music artist who will continue the show with a re-tooled ballot.

And Dave’s started a new show called the Mad Music Comedy Zone. He promises a greater variety of songs, with a much-diminished emphasis on listener voting.

You may already be a wiener!

Dealing with all of that suspected vote fraud must have worn Dave to a frazzle. Believe me, I sympathize. I just hope you weren’t staying up late voting for your own songs, were you, DT?

Hey, did you see the No. 1 song on the Mad Music Dementia Top 20, for all of 2007? It was a little number called Fump…by that talented podcaster-slash-comedy music artist David Tanny.

Dave’s No. 1  (0:38).
