Robert G Parent’s become a bit breathy with his delivery. And giggly.
“I really get an aerobic workout when I listen to these songs. ‘Cause I used to dance,” he titters noisily. “And when I hear music, something just starts to take over and I just…go with the music.”
Last I heard from Robert, he played The Ballad Of Morris The Cat on his poetry and music podcast The Write Stuff.
And hey, it’s great to be back on the show!
But much as I love to make fun of his technique, I’m pleased that this time, Robert provided a double shot of Fly Me To The Moon on the latest Write Stuff and Power Ogg podcasts.
Fly me, Jerry Lewis
The really cool thing is, Robert appears to believe that the vocalist on Fly Me To The Moon is not me doing a Jerry Lewis impression, but the actual Jerry Lewis!
“You know, I heard this. It’s kind of like nostalgic,” Robert said. “You know, it’s an old Jerry Lewis song. I thought it was kinda cool, so I stuck it in my playlist.”
And then he danced, and got all out of breath, and a little giddy. All because of Jerry Lewis, who sang lots of funny songs, but to the best of my knowledge, never Fly Me To The Moon.
“As I always like to say, Stay creative in the magic of life,” Robert closed. Then he said something in a strange language, followed by, “Live long and prosper.” Which suggests he may have delivered the previous line in Klingon. (Star Trek linguists? Any help?)
Awesome podcast!
It’s an old Jerry Lewis song (0:45).
Klingon, perhaps? (0:14).
