Turns out my Powerplay week on Dalecast did more than drive (Jerry Lewis) Fly Me To The Moon to the top of the Podsafe Music Network comedy charts for the month of March.

Not until Top Of The Podsafes featured my tortured Jerry Lewis impersonation did I realize that Fly Me To The Moon was the No. 2 song on the entire PMN for the week of March 8, 2008!

TOTP host Chip plays the Top 10 songs in no particular order, and in fact opened the show with Fly Me To The Moon. As he does for most of the featured artists, Chip generously provided details from my bio page, making me sound far more successful than the facts would indicate.

I’m really jealous of some of those other songs. Some have ridden the Top 10 charts for weeks and weeks, doing stuff like build momentum and break out! My songs just lay there until they dry up and blow away.

And that Maren Morris, whose What You Need is No. 6 on the current chart. Is there a podcast that doesn’t play her songs? I’m just asking.

I don’t trust The People

While we’re on the subject, let’s take a look at TOTP’s slogan: Music For The People, By The People…so you have no excuse.

Chip’s making this thing sound awful democratic. I don’t know why I do this stuff, but it’s certainly not for The People. I’m scared of The People. I’m always afraid they’ll start a riot, or elect more Republicans, or something.

No, I make music for one reason only — because it’s in me and it has to come out. That’s what the doctor said, anyway.

Leave the light on for me

For the record, Fly Me To The Moon reached No. 4 on the big chart for March before closing the month at No. 7.

From here on (sigh!), look for me in Comedy, with the usual lot of parodists and Weird Al clones.

Meanwhile, to all those who belittled and demeaned me as I scratched and clawed my way to the Top Of The Podsafes: I’ll see you on my way back down, suckers!

I try to open up the show with a little bit of comedy  (1:32).

   I didn’t even know the PMN had charts.

   Or, maybe I did and I just figured that they only displayed Brother Love and that other guy who plays piano.

   Anyway, you’re always at the top of our charts, Ken.
