See me perform Friday, May 2, at Mayfest!

Ever have one of those dreams where you’re in a classroom and you’ve got a test paper on the desk in front of you, and you knew there was going to be a test but you hadn’t studied?
And then you wake up from the dream to realize with great relief that you’re not in a classroom at all, but in fact you are onstage in front of 5,000 people and you are stark naked?
In lieu of practice, this describes my professional approach to Mayfest 2008 at Trinity Park in Fort Worth, where I’ll be performing from 8-9 p.m. CDT Friday, May 2, on the Zone Stage. Continue reading

DT introduces my new song (wink, wink)!

Hey, guess what? I have a new song out!
It’s so new, in fact, that I didn’t even know I had a new song until David Tanny played it on his show!
What happened was, I fixed a few problems with (Jerry Lewis) Fly Me To The Moon, hoisting my MP3 up on the rack and fiddling a bit with the volume and EQ.
This is all dull recording engineer stuff, but your ears are going to thank me. Continue reading

Trifecta
The one, the only, the one and only Mr. Ken Turetzky has enjoyed a nice recent run on Dalecast, where the repetition of my limited oeuvre has apparently driven former comedy stalwart The Bradshaws into prolonged retreat.
Host Steve Wheatley warmed up the audience with a reprise of (Jerry Lewis) Fly Me To The Moon and followed up two episodes later with a little I’ll Get Old And Die.
While Steve’s playlist tends toward power pop, he featured the latter song in the middle of a three-song acoustic set, between an instrumental and a track called The Moonshiner, by James Mary Connelly, who I mention only because he has a girl’s middle name. Continue reading

Toward a new era of self-examination!
Although I’m not normally one to promote my good deeds, I do humbly admit that people who know me, and even perfect strangers, often express surprise at my most generous nature.
For example, I’m never too busy to offer unprompted advice regarding their manner of dress, their grammar, their efforts in the kitchen, their various artistic endeavors, or even their choice of religion!
Thanks, Mom!
I gladly credit my parents with instilling these elements of good character in my personality, however much they refuse to accept the blame, as they call it. Continue reading

Good humor man
The last time we checked in with Rev. Zack of the upstart Comedy Music Cellar podcast, our host announced a “re-format” of sorts, opening his playlist to “songs that are just humorous that aren’t necessarily fully in the comedy genre.”
My latest, People I Know would tend to fit Zack’s updated format, as more of an anthem for five-year-olds than a comedy tune. But with its recent play on CMC, People I Know retains its No. 4 spot on the Podsafe Music Network Children’s chart for April. Continue reading
