The one, the only, the one and only Mr. Ken Turetzky has enjoyed a nice recent run on Dalecast, where the repetition of my limited oeuvre has apparently driven former comedy stalwart The Bradshaws into prolonged retreat.
Host Steve Wheatley warmed up the audience with a reprise of (Jerry Lewis) Fly Me To The Moon and followed up two episodes later with a little I’ll Get Old And Die.
While Steve’s playlist tends toward power pop, he featured the latter song in the middle of a three-song acoustic set, between an instrumental and a track called The Moonshiner, by James Mary Connelly, who I mention only because he has a girl’s middle name.
Another three episodes later, scatology carried the day when Steve preceded Her Shit Don’t Stink with Ric Seaberg‘s The Colonscopy Song, a pleasant little number that makes the invasive procedure sound like a vacation in Key West with Jimmy Buffett.
The competition heats up
If I have any cause for concern, it’s that I’ll be unseated as the resident Dalecast comedy genius by the up-and-coming Volume Brothers.
I will admit I was initially taken aback when Steve spun one of their latest, a little number called Bad Juju, because I thought it was a mean song about Jews. But now I like the song, and highly recommend all of their work.
For the moment, though, I retain the edge, with Her Shit Don’t Stink No. 1 on the Podsafe Music Network Comedy chart for April.
