Steve Wheatley really sells the product in his role as Dalecast deejay. And that’s what I like about Steve’s show, other than the fact that he plays my songs and bumpers again and again and again.

To summarize Steve’s introductions from 22 recent episodes:

“That was of course the great…the unmistakeable…from Texas…impersonating Jerry Lewis…the one and only sound there of Ken Turetzky and Today Was A Very Good Day, If They Found Me Dead, The Ballad Of Morris The Cat, Big Black Barn, Why Don’t You Get A Job, I Feel Bad, Fly Me To The Moon, People I Know and My Fat Ass Itches!”

Best Music Podcast

I’ll return the favor by recommending that you nominate Dalecast for Best Music Podcast at the fourth annual People’s Choice Podcast Awards.

2008 People's Choice Podcast Awards

“Nominate me for the Best Music Show!!” Steve writes at his site. “Thanks to all my listeners!! Simply click on the banner above!”

I second that motion. Vote today! Nominations close at 11:59 p.m. Hawaiian Standard Time (whatever that is) September 30.

Meanwhile, Steve’s been tracking daily Dalecast download figures, and the numbers have been quite impressive. Through September 22, according to the Dalecast site:

DALECAST HAS BEEN DOWNLOADED
28,628
TIMES SINCE 10 OCTOBER 2007
AND COUNTING!!

Climbing the charts

During the last six weeks, Steve has featured a dozen of my songs, including four plays of (Jerry Lewis) Fly Me To The Moon and three each of Her Shit Don’t Stink and The Ballad Of Morris The Cat.

Also on recent shows, Steve played covers of Why Don’t You Get A Job and My Fat Ass Itches by UK faves the Volume Brothers.

Thanks to Dalecast, People I Know is third for the month on the Podsafe Music Network Children’s Charts, Big Black Barn — Live at Mayfest is No. 2 for the week in Folk Rock and (Jerry Lewis) Fly Me To The Moon is No. 2 for the month in Comedy.

Rock on, Dalecast! You’ve got my vote!

That was the sound of Ken Turetzky!  (5:39).
