The return of Kip Dynamite

Comedy Music Cellar Podcast

The Comedy Music Cellar has added a new voice to the world of Dementia, in the form of a very mellow host named Reverend Zack.

Now, the CMC playlist is mostly the same old crap you can get on any number of comedy music podcasts. And that includes My Fat Ass Itches, featured on the current episode.

What defines the show is the Kip Dynamite-ish Rev. Zack himself, (See Comedy Music Cellar: A new demented podcast joins the fray), who dryly invites listeners to “open up your heart and let the lunacy in.” Continue reading

D.T. delivers the Top 50 songs of 2007

Mad Music Dementia Top 20 Podcast

One season of the Mad Music Dementia Top 20 was more than enough for founder and host David Tanny.

He’s dumping the show. The MMDT20 will return in 2008, but under new management.

But DT closed the year with a flourish, wrapping up with a two-part, Top 50 countdown that included two of my familiar tracks.

Notably, I’ll Get Old And Die finished 2007 at No. 39, as requested by voters, and Fly Me To The Moon wound up at No. 32. Continue reading

Outrageous! MMA audience in revolt

Mad Music Dementia Top 20 PodcastSo Dr. Demento finally played one of my songs. So I got a little uppity and told those sawed-off podcasters at the Mad Music Archive that I didn’t need them any more.

Can you blame me? I mean, what would you do if you suddenly got a taste of the big time? Reach back in the gutter and pull out an old cigar butt?

Well, the laugh’s on me, I guess. A couple of weeks have gone by and Dr. Demento hasn’t played any more of my songs. And, if you can believe it, the denizens of the Mad Music Archive are Mad At Me!

There’s nothing like the real thing

It’s been more than a year since one of my songs last appeared on The Dr. Demento Show, and during that time I’ve been compelled, in the interest of comedy music survival, to grovel before his lesser demented imitators.

That strategy, however humiliating, served its purpose, keeping me afloat until the Doc played I’ll Get Old And Die in the third segment of his Thanksgiving 2007 show.

Cleverly, Dr. D inserted my song as an endpiece for an obscure National Lampoon Radio Hour bit in which a fake Al Jolson delivers a tribute to his dead Vaudeville pal. Continue reading
