Today Was A Very *&!@#$ Day

I don’t bleep my songs for just anybody, but Tyrone Kahn’s running a family friendly podcast. In other words, he’s a real prude.

However, for the sake of the children, I substituted a couple of harmonica notes for the common expletives *&!@#$ and +)&%!!? in Today Was A Very Good Day.

So now everbody’s happy, except for fans of the common expletives *&!@#$ and +)&%!!?. I’m a big fan of those expletives, so I suppose that group includes me.

Catch the radio edit of my song in Episode Four of Kahn Man’s Comedy Corner, which also features an exclusive live performance of Girlfriend by Henry Phillips. Continue reading

DT’s on fire!

Mad Music Dementia Top 20 PodcastIt’s always been my pleasure to contribute songs to the Mad Music Dementia Top 20, a program that supported me from the start.

We go way back, to the time when nobody had ever heard my amusing little songs. What I’m trying to say is, nobody still has ever heard my amusing little songs, and MMDT20 host David Tanny hasn’t done squat for me!

Demento’s disciples

The Mad Music Show with Cap'n WayneA tentative, alternative Dementia movement is afoot, as comedy music podcasters begin to explore a break with the genre’s spiritual father, whose own playlist grows ever narrower.

In fact, Wayne Ross founded the Mad Music Archive as a tribute to Dr. Demento, but shifted focus when his site drew unwelcome attention from the distributors of the Dr. Demento Show.

“Anything destined to be loved is also destined to be hated,” Wayne writes on his site. Continue reading

Last gasp for Die?

Mad Music Dementia Top 20 PodcastRiding a surge of hidden support, I’ll Get Old And Die resurfaced at No. 7 on the latest Mad Music Dementia Top 20.

Even after I’d given it up for lost, this marks the sixth appearance in 10 weeks for my ain’t in a hurry to go nowhere protest song (featuring Brandon Higgins on drums) on David Tanny’s comedy music podcast.

Prolific U.K. bicycle repairman and songwriter/recording artist Chris Wilkinson (as The Volume Brothers) also made the chart at No. 12 with Take The Shame. Continue reading

A brief excerpt

Mad Music Dementia Top 20 PodcastI’ll Get Old And Die is back in the Mad Music Dementia Top 20 at No. 19, although my song’s so familiar now that host David Tanny features a mere 24 seconds before moving on to other business.

But who’s counting?

If you want fresh material, check out The Volume Brothers (featuring my friend Chris Wilkinson), who squeezed into the poll at No. 20 with Take The Shame.

The audio track below (and in the player at upper right) includes a brief excerpt of Chris’s catchy new song. DT’s not the only one who knows how to hack up people’s music! Continue reading
