Raising hell with Snowball and Fuzzy

The Mad Music Show with Cap'n WayneI don’t like cats, or even, to quote the old joke, people named Katz!

And yet, I find myself housesitting for a week with a pair of adorable, fluffy little kittens. I must admit, they’re so cute, the way they’re into everything, all the time.

Their unrelenting obsessions, with shoelaces, the kitchen sink, bathroom towels, napkins, drinking glasses, plastic bags, electrical cords, pens and pencils, my socks, with everything but their own cat toys, are so adorable. Continue reading

Springboard to Demento

Mad Music Dementia Top 20 PodcastDavid Tanny loves funny music, has hosted his own Internet radio show for years, and I don’t think he minds at all that I stepped on his head to get to comedy music icon Dr. Demento.

David was the first Webcaster to play my songs, spinning tracks from my EP, Look What I Made!, on DFSX Comedy Radio.

Turns out DT has an ear for talent. My Fat Ass Itches was the No. 5 song on the DFSX Top 50 for 2004, and four months later, reached No. 3 on Dr. Demento’s Funny Five.

Thanks for the boost, Dave! See ya later! Continue reading

Kahn Man intros live show, new bumpers

One of the many obligations of fake celebrity is to record brief promotional audio segments, known in the trade as bumpers, for needy podcast and radio show hosts, themselves trapped in the happy delusion of fake celebrity.

Your assignment: Create a bumper that will be clever, relevant and brief, plugging whatever it is that you do while displaying an enthusiasm for the show you’re acknowledging with your fake-celebrity presence. Continue reading

Cap’n Wayne disses the Doctor

The Mad Music Show with Cap'n WayneWayne Ross had a nice little Dr. Demento fan site going — that is, until Dr. D’s tough love forced Wayne to forge a new comedy music path.

Citing proprietary reasons, Dr. Demento and his terrestrial radio and Internet broadcast partners asked Wayne to remove a comprehensive Demento show archive from thedrdementoshow.com, the site Wayne founded in January 2005.

But from the ashes rose the Mad Music Archive, featuring the Mad Music Show with Cap’n Wayne. The two-hour weekly program provides an additional shot of Dementia for old and new fans of the original. Sign up for a free membership to download the podcast. Continue reading

Give Mondays a break!

Manic Mondays PodcastWhat did Monday ever do to hurt anybody? Should Monday take crap because some people don’t like going back to work on Monday?

I suppose I should learn to empathize, though. If I had a job, I might not appreciate Mondays, either.

Actually, I did have a job once, but I didn’t like it very much. You couldn’t pay me to get another job, that’s how much I didn’t like it! Continue reading
