The Gamma Knife of love
It’s Valentine’s Day, and following tradition, Schnauzer Logic’s Robin Diane Goldstein marks the occasion by previewing her upcoming brain surgery, two days hence.
(Editor’s note: “The radiation never came anywhere near a vital organ,” Robin reports following the event. “The (operation) took about six hours, including the scaffolding and drywall, x-rays and Homeland Security check and the actual Gamma Knife procedure.”)
Fortunately, the only vital organ of concern for me this bitter holiday season was a broken heart. Accordingly, I shared a particularly offensive story about my neurotic ex-girlfriend with the giddy panel of regulars, including Sheri Stevens, Sean Meehan and Parviz Fathali. Continue reading

Mistakes have been made
“Where mistakes have been made …,” suggests our President, substituting a blank-faced expression of inscrutability for his more familiar used-war-salesman squint.
But as institutions of any sort, White House included, revile the burden of “responsibility,” the questionable Red Peters Comedy Music Show Top 16 poll on Sirius Radio’s Howard Stern/Howard 101 Channel continues to evade serious scrutiny.
If it were a serious subject, I suppose I’d be more concerned about the hacked vote. But despite my efforts to tamp down the controversy, Schnauzer Logic host Robin Goldstein continues to fan the flames. (How’s that for disingenuous political posturing?) Continue reading

Observations from the downslide
If you’re going to stand out in performance, you’ve gotta find a place where you can develop your true and honest voice.
The Schnauzer Logic podcast is shaping up as an uncensored platform for my manic comic artist’s persona, where host Robin Diane Goldstein and her studio panel respond generously to almost every one of my halting, half-formed observations from the downslide. Continue reading

Return to Big Ugly
Gradually, the myth of my start in comedy music has ripened into an epic tale. In a time of great upheaval, I overcame my natural modesty and strode forth, guitar in hand, to smite the formidable audience and affirm my pop culture relevance.
That’s the act, anyway, and I describe those events to host Fugly J. Wetzel in the latest edition of the Big Ugly Podcast. The dodgy digital anomalies of Skype occasionally play hell on the audio quality, but Wetzel’s incisive interview style and my self-effacing charm bring a redemptive sheen to the enterprise. Conversation with Ken
Host Robin Goldstein yuks it up with her crew and sandwiches an interview with me around spins of Her Shit Don’t Stink and The Ballad of Morris The Cat. I’m flattered by the opportunity to play the role of whiny, self-indulgent artist, and they can hardly shut me up long enough to say goodbye.
Robin’s introduction (0:32). Continue reading
