I’ll Get Old And Die — Again and Again
The flesh-eating zombie rats are running wild at Snark Infested Waters, where science fiction and fantasy join radio mysteries, Jesus and death as favorite preoccupations of host Taylor Kent.
The current episode — and likely the last until 2008 as Kent begins a hiatus — features Brian Keene reading from his upcoming novel Dead Sea, which begins:
I didn’t shoot the bitch until she started eating Alan’s face.
Kent previously played my songs The Ballad Of Morris The Cat and If They Found Me Dead in January and April, respectively. Continue reading

Keeping the fun alive
This week, Big Phil continues his darkly satirical assault on the Bush Administration and other renegade institutions, and produces a brand new mispronunciation of my name.
“That was Ken Tur-etz-y,” Phil declares after playing my new song, I’ll Get Old And Die. “Did I pronounce it correctly? Probably.”
Previously, Phil has contributed Tur-zetz-ky to the lexicon of Turetzky alternatives.
Phil doesn’t give a crap, and that’s what I like about him. Get a load of the close, where he delivers his show notes over background music provided by brother Clay Thompson, whose electric “Cool Talker” almost demands the return of cheesy ’70s porn. Continue reading

More Morris; too much Harry
Harry Potter’s just about everywhere this week. Do we need Harry Potter at the grocery store?
I walk into Albertsons to buy a package of chicken breasts, and a wizard hands me a cheap green photocopied flier promoting the new Harry Potter book.
As I move through the aisles, squeezing cherries, thumping cantaloupes, tearing open bags of cookies and kneading mounds of raw hamburger, a woman’s voice hustles the new Harry Potter book over the store intercom.
“Be here at 12:01 a.m. to get the new Harry Potter book,” she exhorts in a tone more suited to seafood specials and two-for-one cupcakes. “It’s the laaay-est one! Don’t be the laaay-est person to get the laaay-est Harry Potter book!” Continue reading

Guys agree: Her Shit Don’t Stink
Four 30-something East-Coast refugees from college radio, now saddled with day jobs and domestic responsibilties, get together once a week for a marathon session of irreverent and irrelevant Guy Talk.
Every month, 11,000 (or more) listeners (mostly guys) in the U.S., the U.K., Australia and Japan download the recorded session to iPod, as background music for their school, work, hip-hop and wife-centric lives.
This is The Awful Show, featuring Tha Mike, Joel, Keyz and Nerraux, representing podcasting at its podcasting-ness. Continue reading

Nothing but the Stink
I sent Podshow Music Rewind host Marcus Couch a segment from one of my favorite podcasts, Schnauzer Logic, all wrapped up with a logo, program description and everything, and what did he do?
He stripped the witty commentary by Robin Diane Goldstein, extracted my song Her Shit Don’t Stink, and pasted my tune into his digest of some of the best podcasts and Podsafe Music on the Web.
Sorry about that, Schnauzer Logic. Suckers!
Podshow Music Rewind has appeared irregularly this year, while Couch devoted his attention to The Scene Zine, a hard rock and heavy metal podcast. Continue reading
