Now that’s another tune that burrows right into your brain. I mean, I still wake up in the middle of the night with that friggin’ song playin’ in my head. You know, that’s a sticky one.

Think of the truly legendary giants of blues, like Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Bessie Smith, B.B. King. Well, none of them ever made a blues quite like this one: Ken Turetzky.

Hey Ken,
I really like the beginning of Why Don’t You Get A Job and Big Black Barn. The line where you say “If I had a job I’d be very worried” is ridiculous.
Do you have any standup type stuff? I like the songs but admittedly like I like the wit in your intros and your sarcastic attitude more than the song that follows.
Thanks.

Hey Ken, Thanks for the update. I think your comedy is great. But you know me: it has to be squeaky clean for me to play it here. (BTW, I love your Jerry Lewis, but you are right: listeners today may not even know who he is. But I think you sound fantastic when you imitate him.)
I was glad to hear you on the interview talk about the lyrics of I’ll Get Old And Die, which I love. But one thing I have noticed is that your song is really great music as well. There’s really a great musical composition there, and I really enjoy it, even apart from the lyrics.
Thanks for dropping my name on the Snark podcast. I have not seen your web page, I believe, since you revamped it, so I shall have to go take a look!

Hey Ken,
Anyway, I just sat down and listened to your album. Her Shit Don’t Stink. Great.
I really like If They Found Me Dead and especially Today Was A Very Good Day.
Reminds me of M.A.S.H. the movie and Cat Stevens. Well done. Makes me sad that Cat Stevens is now Yusuf. The man still has that voice.
Enjoy and keep producing.

Ken,
You do an amazing Jerry Lewis! Man, I just did a parody song show on April Fools day, and this would have fit in perfectly. I’ll keep it handy for a future show (maybe a Frank Sinatra tribute show, since it’ll be a long while out for another parody show!).
Dude, you do an AMAZING Jerry Lewis.

Hi, Ken,
Just been reading your blog and…
Thanks for the comments and some “points” have been noted, ahem! I did enjoy Fly Me To The Moon and have always loved the zany humour in the Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin movies of old. Regarding the “low-fi quality” of the podshows….
Well, server space is at a premium and there are always about 40 shows on the server at any one time and each show is about 20Mb in size.
There is another reason for this as well, and that is if you like one or more of the tunes I play then the listener can visit the artist’s website or myspace and buy the good-quality original! Although some of the tracks are still crap quality lol.
The first 20-odd shows of Dalecast were weekly shows. Then I started doing them daily. It keeps me occupied seeing as I can’t work anymore.
Frosterley is a quaint village in Weardale; it would probably fit into one your parking lots in Texas, chortle.
My style of DJing started way back in 1971 and I was influenced by Sir Jimmy Saville, Emperor Rosko, Kenny Everett (The “Bye Bye” jingle at the end of each is by him and also “Puff” that I use at the beginning of some shows), Tony Blackburn, Paul Gambachini, Simon Bates and Alan “Fluff” Freeman. I also used to listen to Radio London, Caroline and Radio Luxembourg every day.
Right I will stop waffling now!! Will be playing I’ll Get Old And Die” on tommorrow’s show (Show Number 162). Will have a think about a “Powerplay” for ya! I have managed to get three powerplay artists tunes into the Podsafe music chart Top 5!
Cheers from Frosty Frosterley.

Ken,
Mike from The Awful Show gifted me with a download of your album, and I must say, it is extraordinary. Rarely in today’s bloated and saturated music-scape is there such a fine blend of wit and talent. I am still laughing.
Thanks to Tha Mike and the Awful Show cast for the birthday gift and the opportunity to hear new and obscure artists. Keep it coming, and Ken — Make more!

Oh and Franky was being watched as he did that, I wanted to see if he would get his head all the way in there. And he is still alive to speak of it.
Sorry about the last name….My last name was Dveirin. Every time I went to the grocery store the clerk would hand back my card and say, “Um, thanks Mrs. Um. Dveirnnn.”

Hello Ken,
I hope all is well with you. I like your new webpage layout. I just wanted to check in and let you know that your song, Her Shit Don’t Stink, will be featured as one of the Top 16 songs of the year on my special, 3 1/2-hour year-end countdown show.
The show will broadcast on Saturday, December 30, 2006 at 8pm ET, and Sunday, December 31, 2006 at 8pm ET on Sirius Satellite Radio, Howard 101 channel.
Plus, your song is eligible to be named Song Of The Year, as voted by fans and the listening audience.
On the show, I will play the songs in the order they were originally broadcast, and will appear in the order below, and on the Red Peters voting panel at sirius.com/howard101.
- He’s An Asshole – Francine, The Queen Of Obscene
- 5 Big Boners Wiggling In Your Grandma’s Face – Rappy McRapperson
- Her Shit Don’t Stink – Ken Turetzky
- Big Vagina Opening – Herpe Boils
- This Bitch Is Alright – Marc from Sick Animation
- 2 Fat 2 Fuck – The Rap Bastardz
- I Am Not A Terrorist – Whitie McWhitevich
- I Love A Girl With Come On Her Face – Lewis The Cat

- Good Hard Fuckin’ – Larry Pierce
Voting for The Red Peters Comedy Music Hour Song Of The Year will begin at 12 Noon ET on December 27, 2006, and will close at 5pm ET on January 10, 2007.
This is not a scientific poll. You, your fans, your friends, and others in the listening audience, can vote as often as they like. Some people vote night and day. There are no restrictions. The voting is intended for entertainment and amusement purposes only. The winner will be decided by the most number of votes cast, and will be announced on the Season Two Premiere of The Red Peters Comedy Music Hour on January 26, 2007.
The show and voting will be promoted in radio spots on the Sirius Howard Channels, and on sirius.com and the Howard pages, so I’m expecting a very large audience to tune in. It should be excellent exposure for you and your music. So notify all your fans and friends!
Thank you for turning me on to your music and for being a guest on my program. I encourage you to keep in touch with me and send me any new songs or bits you record. I’m sure I’ll be playing you again in the future.
Thank you again, have a Happy Holiday, and good luck with the voting.
Peace and love,

hey ken…
you were a terrific guest… my audience, because it’s a podcast audience, generally listens to the full show and so is interested in real people talking about real things with their real emotions… we did an interview a few weeks back with ann zimmerman, a talented folk singer, who talked about audiences and the business, etc… and in our interview with kip addotta he went to town over ‘hack’ comics… none of this “if you don’t have something nice to say” stuff… what -you- do is f’ing hard! i’ve done stand-up and know what its like to be in front of an audience that’s saying, ‘make me laugh’… that’s why i prefer radio… i get to imagine that the audience is amused (and my co-hosts are my friends so we laugh at each other’s jokes, no matter how bad they are)…
anyway, after the show we all agreed you were one of the best guests we’ve had and would love to have you back to talk basketball or sports of any kind (i’m a baseball freak and sean is big into football but we all dig on the NBA) or whatever’s on your mind… just lemme know what’s your pleasure… we generally tape the same time each wednesday (or occasionally push it out to thursday)
anyway, thanks again and all the best!
cheers

Our listener numbers have definitely improved since we started, Ken. And really, we’ve done very little promotion, so it’s natural that we wouldn’t be taking the podosphere by storm. (We’ve got plans, though. Glorious plans.)
Anyway, I took a look at the roundup. It’s great! I’ll get a photo of me and Jen to you by the end of the week. That’s something we need to do, anyway. So, this just gives us an excuse to go ahead and do it. I also wanted to say congratulations on getting some play from Demento. He’s the king.

Hi Ken
I’m Chris’ instrumental collaborator on “Drinking For England” & “My Fat Ass Itches”, playing various guitars, bass & my newly acquired Flying V shaped ukulele. I just wanted to say thanks for the support and exposure you’re giving our material via your site.
Over the last couple of years we’ve recorded tons of stuff together and after a bit of a break we’re now getting back together every couple of weeks to record new material. Still trying to decide whether to get back to live performing – we did quite a lot of this from summer 2004 for about 6 months and although we were going down well, we didn’t seem to be getting anywhere with it.
My other bands and projects got busy and I wanted to be a responsible husband and not be away from home every evening. On regrouping, it seemed that recording was the more rewarding (and cheaper) option so that’s the way we’re going now.
If you want a taster of my regular band, have a look here – www.stompceilidh.co.uk. We gigged at the weekend, in Exeter, Devon.
Thanks again Ken, keep writing and recording and keep in touch.
Cheers

Looking good! It’s a whole lot better than the Soundclick site, no question about it – it’s in a whole different league.
I’ve done a bit of an update to my MySpace page following the writing and recording of our unofficial England World Cup 2006 anthem ‘Drinking For England’ under the name Athletico Volume Internazionalé. I think that if we can ever get it played it’ll go down really well here.
Cheers for now,

Hi Ken,
May I first say how much I enjoy your work, I heard a bit of your “act” and I became a fan straight away, you’re hilarious! I downloaded the clips from your website and I was laughing so much that it almost hurt!
In case you were wondering where I heard about you, I followed a link from a website called “Chuckle Monkey”.
I have sent you this e-mail to therefore ask if it was possible for me to have your autograph, as I collect autographs of comedians/ bands that I like, so if you could send me an autograph, I would be very grateful, thanks
I would come along to one of your live shows and ask you in person, but as I live in Britain, it’s fairly unlikely that I’ll get the chance.
Anyway, I just thought I would ask, and also say how much I enjoy your work, I look forward to hearing back from you, but until then take care, keep up the good work, bye for now,

Ken,
I hope you realize you and Daria would be great singing something besides comedy and when or if the comedy runs dry don’t forget how good you are musicly.

Ken,
Added you to a couple of stations your stuff really IS great. You ought to have to write a Bush biography comedy song since you claimed you had one. I know you could write a good one after hearing your vocals, guitar, and production. Or you could just leave it a lie and run for office as a Republican.
Anyway, Cool Material!!I knew that sh*** don’t stink girl.

Hi Ken,
It’s not often I visit the comedy genre, but glad I did. “Her sh*** don’t stink” and “Don’t really matter” are so funny.
Great stuff, so where are all your messages I wonder!!
Hope you don’t mind I’ve put a link to here on my own website (front page for Christmas!)
All the best,
